The Office of Education Innovation has two charter application cycles per year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The application process is comprised of seven steps that begin with the submission of a letter of intent and end with the final chartering decision. Please see timeline below:**
Applicant submits letter of intent
Due Feb 23, 2018 by 12:00 p.m.
Applicant submits a prospectus reviewed by staff, Indianapolis Charter School Board, external reviewers
Applicants must complete budget template and appendices to submit with prospectus narrative.
Due March 23, 2018 by 12:00 p.m.
Interviews: staff collects feedback from reviewers and interviews applicant
Applicant interviews will take place April 9- 13, 2018
Indianapolis Charter School Board Meeting: each applicant presents application to board; board conducts Q & A with each applicant and accepts public comment
The prospectus hearing will take place April 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
Selected applicants submit a full application. Application reviewed by staff, Indianapolis Charter School Board, and external reviewers. Applicants must complete revised budget template and appendices to submit with application narrative.
Due June 1, 2018 by 12:00 p.m.
Indianapolis Charter School Board Meeting: staff presents recommendations to the board regarding whether each applicant should receive a charter; board deliberates and votes on final chartering decision.
The full application hearing will take place June 25, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
